Pastel Pick of the Week | Winners in UART’s Online Pastel Competition
The award-winners in the 2015 UART Online Pastel Competition represent an impressive collection of pastel prowess and ingenuity. The juror was Liz Haywood-Sullivan—artist, author, instructor and current president of the International Association of Pastel Societies. She had her work cut out for her, having to select a first, second and third place winner, two special awards, and five honorable mentions from among the entries. Prizes for the contest included $1,000 cash; a Richeson Lobo Deluxe Easel
; Terry Ludwig Pastels, PanPastels; Caran d’Ache pastel pencils; a variety of UART pastel surfaces; and complimentary Pastel Journalsubscriptions. Congratulations to the artists!

Abundance (pastel) by Diane Sawyer earned the First Place Award
Strawberry Fields (pastel) by Maryann Mullett took Second Place
Winter’s Glow (pastel) by Judy Perry won Third Place
I Have My Eye on You (pastel) by Suzi Zefting-Kuhn earned the ”Caran D’Ache Special Award
Snow Caps Glencoe (pastel) by Margaret Evans received a Special Mention Award
